An introductory hands-on course for those who want to learn how to build websites with HTML and CSS.
HTML and CSS are the building blocks of every website.
HTML is used to describe the content of a site. For example, this very paragraph is described in HTML.
CSS is used to style websites. All of the color and fonts, like this sentence that you see on this site is described in CSS.
Together, they can be used to build functional and beautiful websites. If you’ve ever wondered how websites were made and how you can make your own, now is the time to learn!

Please be on time. We suggest that you plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before the event starts as it may take you time to locate the venue. For security reasons, we will have to tag you into the building. As such, we cannot allow entry for latecomers.
Yes! You do not need previous coding or design experience, just bring yourself, a laptop and enthusiasm to learn. This class is suitable for beginners and would be ideal for secondary school and pre-university students.
We do ask that participants be at least 13 years old of age to join this class.
If you are a parent and would like to sign up for a younger child, please get in touch with us to ensure that the pace of the class would be suitable for them.

We will be building a static website from scratch! By the end of the class you will have the basics to further venture out in the world of web design and development. Here is an example of a simple homepage. Some of the topics we’ll be covering are the basics of HTML/CSS, website design and how to upload a website.
You will need to bring your laptop, charger and an extension plug (if you can) for this class. Any type of laptop or operating system (Mac, Windows, Linux, etc) can be used for this class. Please make your own arrangements to borrow a laptop for this class if you do not own one.
Our volunteer instructor for this class is Sher Minn Chong
Sher Minn is a freelance front-end web developer and designer. Having developed her interest in web design out of her passion for building things, she hopes to share this knowledge with others who would like to build their own web projects.
Some of the projects and companies she has worked with are Code Equality, Cafehop KL, Oracle and Jobstreet. She is also the co-founder of Code Equality.
